DCS - Why it was started.
The Designer Cat Society was started to give breeders and fanciers a community with a fun and relaxed atmosphere to promote designer cats. For years, there were many different types of designer cat breeds, with each group individually working to develop and promote their breed. The Designer Cat Society was created to unite the breeders and fanciers that are working towards developing their breeds and getting them recognized. We wanted to create a place for everyone to come together and exchange ideas, stories, pictures, meet new friends and greet old ones. So many times, breeders and fanciers alike, get caught in the middle of raging wars on lists, forums and even in showhalls! This creates a stressful environment for all that are involved as well as those that are innocent bystanders. The DC Society was created with the intention of keeping it on a family level. By uniting breeders, providing mentors and establishing a Designer Cat Society Code of Ethics to work by, the DC Society hopes to help to keep back yard breeder's at bay, promote the new breeds along with good breeding ethics and bring breeders together with the public to find good homes for kittens.

DCS - What we do!
The Designer Cat Society provides a place for breeders and fanciers of designer cats to come together. The DC Society offers a professional web presence for designer breeds, including breed photos, descriptions, histories and working standards. Information for breeders to research as well as fanciers interested in learning more about the different breeds. We will be placing ads in different publications to promote the designer breeds as well as online media. Press releases will be sent out periodically. It is important that the public be well educated on designer breeds so they can make the right decisions when choosing a new cat. If they don't know about a certain breed, then they can't very well choose it.

Note: The Designer Cat Society will not promote a breed that is intentionally bred to be a harmful or unhealthy mutation or deformity.

It is our goal in the future to organize Designer Cat Society Exhibitions to show the designer breeds to the public. This is still in the works and hopefully will be starting in Spring 2008.

DCS Membership Benefits/Services
Besides being a member to one of the newest and most elite cat societies, the Designer Cat Society provides many benefits and services for its members. You will receive a Designer Cat Society Membership Card, showing the world, you care enough about your designer cat to help promote the breed. You will receive access to a stress-free forum for you to chat about your cats. By keeping the forum members only, we are able to control the quality of the conversation, providing a place where you don't worry about arguments and rude behavior. Bad etiquette will not be tolerated and will immediately be moderated and possibly banned. Members are encouraged to submit short stories, funny anecdotes and photos of their cats for publishing in the DC Society News. Members are also offered an exclusive discount at the Marketplace on many types of cat products and services from many different vendors..

For breeders: The DC Society offer several membership services to also help promote designer cat breeders on an individual level. In addition to regular member benefits and services, you also receive a breeder listings, listing information on your cattery, a picture and contact information so fanciers can find who to turn to when they choose a breed. DCS also offers kitten announcement listings, so let us know when you have kittens and we will post it on the site for those searching for their perfect pet. With your kittens and cattery listed on the DCS site, you will be exposed to search engines worldwide as well as ads placed in different publications. Breeders will be asked to sign promising to abide by the Designer Cat Society Code of Ethics before being allowed to join.

Please realize that we are a new society. It is our goal to continue to grow and progress so new ideas, benefits and services will be added as we go.
